When do Mexican citizens need Vietnam Business Visa?

Mexican citizens need a Vietnam Business Visa when they are entering Vietnam for the purpose of conducting business activities, such as:

  • Attending meetings or conferences
  • Negotiating contracts
  • Establishing a business or representative office
  • Conducting market research
  • Participating in trade shows or exhibitions
  • Providing technical assistance or training
  • Working as a consultant or freelancer

If a Mexican citizen is entering Vietnam for any other purpose, such as tourism or visiting friends and family, they may be eligible for a Vietnam Tourist Visa.

There are two ways to apply for a Vietnam Business Visa:

  1. Apply for a Vietnam Visa on Arrival (VOA): This is the most convenient option for most travelers, as it allows you to apply for your visa online and pick it up at one of Vietnam’s international airports. To apply for a VOA, you will need to provide the following information:
    • Your full name and date of birth
    • Your passport number and nationality
    • Your date of arrival in Vietnam
    • The type of visa you are applying for (single or multiple entry)
    • Your contact information in Vietnam

Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an approval letter via email. You can then print out the approval letter and present it to the immigration officer at the airport when you arrive in Vietnam.

  1. Apply for a Vietnam Business Visa at a Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate: This option is more time-consuming, but it may be necessary if you are not eligible for a VOA or if you need your visa processed quickly. To apply for a visa at an embassy or consulate, you will need to submit the following documents:
    • A completed visa application form
    • Your passport (valid for at least 6 months after your date of entry into Vietnam)
    • Two passport-sized photos
    • A business invitation letter from a company in Vietnam
    • Proof of travel insurance
    • The visa fee

The processing time for a Vietnam Business Visa at an embassy or consulate is typically 3-5 business days.

Please note: The Vietnam government has recently introduced a new e-Visa program for citizens of certain countries, including Mexico. However, the e-Visa program is not yet available for business travelers.

Validity of Vietnam Business Visa in Mexico

The validity of a Vietnam business visa in Mexico depends on two factors:

  • The type of visa
  • The date of issue

There are two types of Vietnam business visas: single-entry and multiple-entry. A single-entry visa allows the holder to enter Vietnam once, while a multiple-entry visa allows the holder to enter Vietnam multiple times within the validity period.

The validity of a Vietnam business visa can range from 1 month to 1 year, depending on the type of visa and the date of issue. For example, a single-entry business visa issued on January 1, 2023 would be valid for 1 month from the date of issue, or until February 1, 2023. A multiple-entry business visa issued on January 1, 2023 would be valid for 1 year from the date of issue, or until December 31, 2023.

Important note: The validity of a Vietnam business visa does not necessarily mean that the holder is allowed to stay in Mexico for the entire duration of the visa. The maximum length of stay in Mexico for Vietnamese citizens is 180 days, regardless of the type of visa held.

Example:

A Vietnamese citizen with a single-entry business visa with a validity of 1 month enters Mexico on January 1, 2023. The holder of the visa is allowed to stay in Mexico for up to 180 days, even though the visa is only valid for 1 month. However, if the holder of the visa leaves Mexico and tries to re-enter, they will need to obtain a new visa.

A Vietnamese citizen with a multiple-entry business visa with a validity of 1 year enters Mexico on January 1, 2023. The holder of the visa is allowed to stay in Mexico for up to 180 days on each entry, and they can enter and leave Mexico as many times as they want within the 1-year validity period of the visa.

Please note: The information above is general in nature and may be subject to change. It is always best to contact the Vietnamese embassy or consulate in Mexico for the most up-to-date information on visa requirements.
